They ran out of most of their food options by noon and the service was very awkward. It made me very uncomfortable.

So surprised to find this unique spot has so few reviews. After traveling all over the lower 48, I will have to say Root-A-Bakers is in our top nationwide picks overall. From the friendly staff, appearance and most of all the delicious array of offerings, it's unparalleled. We had the bacon and spinach quiche, along with the choose three salads. We chose chicken, pimento cheese and pasta. Also tried the loaded potato salad and broccoli and cauliflower salad. Breads are baked daily and offerings include cheddar herb and cranberry walnut. We did not have a bad bite. And the desserts are "to die for." We tried the famous sugar cookies and the scones. If you're looking for a breakfast scone, try the sausage and cheddar one. It's unbelievable and not hard like typical sconces. So delicious! This place is so much more than a bakery. You will not leave hungry, portions are huge and you'll have a smile on your face!

I LOVE THIS BAKERY AND THEY MAKE SOME OF THE BEST SUGAR COOKIES I EVER HAD AND ITS IS YOUR 1ST TIME THERE THEY AND TELL THEM IT'S OUR 1ST TIME HERE THEY WILL GIVE ONE OMG SUGAR COOKIE THAT U WILL UNDERSTAND Y I SAY YUMMY LOL ....

Food and service was excellent, as usual! The half chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and loaded potato soup was perfect for a chilly day.

A gem in Morehead, the cheddar herb bread is amazing, well, to be honest, everything I have had has been amazing! Make sure to let them know if it is your first time as you will get a free sugar cookie! Also, if you haven't already sit in when you have your lunch!

Excellent salads using leaf lettuces- a departure from the cheaper less nutritious iceberg. Service was excellent and friendly. I do not eat meat so I cannot rank the sandwiches.

If you go once, you will almost definitely go back a second time. Root-A-Bakers is a friendly, family atmosphere with cute seating and decor. I love going here for lunch, and the food is delicious! There is something on the menu for pretty much everyone, and, not to mention, they have the great desserts! If you visit Morehead, KY or are in the Cave Run area, stop by this place and grab lunch & a cookie!

Great food, prices are a little high though

Locally owned bakery and restaurant with some of the best baked goods you'll eat. People travel from all over to buy their products, and they're famous for their icing-covered sugar cookies. Even if you're just a traveler passing through, the cookies are well worth the stop and price. Things are a little pricey but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. They will also bake cakes and just about any sweet you could imagine to order and everything I've had here is great. Wonderful staff here as well. In my opinion Root-A-Bakers is the perfect local bakery.

Love, love, love this sweet place. The sunroom is my favorite. Peaceful and serene. The food is so very good. Customer service is amazing.

Probably the best cinnamon roll that I’ve ever had. Delicious dough that was made of a bread-style base (not, thank goodness, from overly rich, sugary brioche or something), perfectly complemented by the thick cream cheese frosting on top, and the swirls of cinnamon inside. Loved it. A perfect, authentic piece of baking delight. Charming, cost atmosphere at the bakery, too.

Food is amazing! Staff is very friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. This place feeds my office often and we have never had a bad meal. The fresh strawberry cake is a must during the summer months!

Great place for lunch! Large portions, everything's homemade and delicious. Save room for dessert. I had coconut cream pie that was still warm from baking that morning -- my favorite food and it was definitely the best I ever tasted! Make reservations -- We almost didn't get our party of four seated at 11 am because there was a large party in the second seating area.

Cookies, sandwiches, pies, pepperoni braids - all the best. Always tummy happy when leaving.

We absolutely loved this place. Great atmosphere, great food and great people. We live in Indiana or would go back regularly. I would give it more stars if possible. Our visit was on June 2nd.

You could go into diabetic shock here! Everything is baked with love. You can also enjoy a meal from a unique menu and you won't be disappointed!

Fabulous!! The atmosphere was charming. Exceptionally cute dining area. The brocolli and cauliflower salad, bacon and spinach quiche, cookies and scones were dream worthy!

I have never had a bad meal here. The food is always fresh and tastes so good! Try the chicken salad! It's delicious. And while they're known for their sugar cookies (yum!) try the strawberry cupcakes or a slice of the cake. Worth every penny!

Phenomenal food and even better service. The soup, sandwiches, and desserts were impeccable. If you want to feel decadently full and respectfully served, then make the trip from Anywhere, KY.! It's like you're home with family, only these ladies fix it better than my granny ever could (and she was a great cook!) Thank you for a great graduation celebration!! We'll be back...

We got lucky the second time ! Because of their limited hours we missed them the first time around . But boy were we lucky .. very bright and cozy family owned place who welcomed us with a delicious cookie ( since it was our first time there !! )Very friendly and polite staff , makes you feel right at home . We got their fresh homemade sourdough bread which was exceptional and can’t get enough of ! Also got their muffins - our favorite was the orange cranberry one .. and last but not the least the one thing they are known for the yummy delicious CHICKEN SALAD. So happy to be there and will definitely be back for more !

Wow! What a gem! I was down here for work and this place was recommended to me. It showed up on Trip Advisor as a bakery so i hadn't looked at it as a place for lunch.They have a lot of interesting items on the menu and the group of us had several of them. All outstanding! They brought bites of savory and sweet scones to the table as 'something to warm up your tastebuds before your meals get here!'Everything was amazing. The waiter was great and offered suggestions. The baked goods were great too! Try the cranberry walnut bread!

I've been gone from Morehead for a number of years now, but I still make my parents bring me Lana's cookies whenever I see them.

We absolutely loved our experience at Rootabakers! I got the Smokey Turkey sandwich, which is now my favorite sandwich in my history of sandwich eating! It was fantastic! There was plenty of turkey and cheese, so much so that I was worried that it would be very dense. It was quite the opposite! It was light and so flavorful. My guest got the Reuben which he enjoyed on marble rye bread. I loved that they gave you a sampling of their scones as a free “appetizer”. We also ordered a slice of coconut cream pie (to die for) and chocolate mousse cheesecake (even MORE to die for)! Overall, I highly recommend! I would suggest planning a decent amount of time out if you plan to go. The line was very long, but well worth it!

Friendly staff. Soft, not overly sweet cookies. Brownies with chocolate chips in them. Also, the free cookie for first timers was almost as big as my head and super delicious!! Definitely coming back

Awesome food and even better staff. So accommodating and patient. If I ever drive through this part of Kentucky again I will definitely be back. I may even get another degree at Morehead State University so I have a reason to. :-)

I opened the door and entered the bakery to have my nostrils delightfully filled with the aroma of freshly baked sweet pastries, muffins and breads. Heaven! Lol. The blueberry pastry was outstanding! I bought a loaf of cranberry bread I can't wait to try. The employee greeted me cheerfully and gave me a free iced cookie for it being my first visit. It was delicious! I recommend this establishment and I'll be back. I returned the next weekend and purchased some absolutely delicious bread pudding and another loaf of cranberry walnut bread which is so good.

We always love this place! We got the chicken salad and fruit. Wonderful! Also, the soup of the was potato. It was great!

Food is good , prices are high but I guess u get what u pay for.

When the cashier prepared our food, she place our bag on the FLOOR and packed it full and left it there while she rang us up.... That's disgusting.

I'm new to Morehead. The little gem of a place is my FAVORITE PLACE to take newcomers & friends that come to visit me from the West. Is recommended trying their ENTIRE MENU!!!!
